SS-31 10mg Research Peptide

SS-31 (D-Arg-2',6'-dimethyl-Tyr-Lys-Phe-NH₂), known clinically as Elamipretide and being developed by Stealth BioTherapeutics, is a synthetic Szeto-Schiller peptide that selectively concentrates in the inner mitochondrial membrane.

Purity

99.5% HPLC-tested purity with COA support.

Size

10mg Lyophilized Powder.

Storage

-20°C (Freezer)

Research use

For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.

Mechanism of action

SS-31 binds cardiolipin, a phospholipid unique to the inner mitochondrial membrane. This stabilizes cristae architecture, reduces electron leak and improves electron transport chain efficiency. Clinical trials have explored its use in primary mitochondrial myopathy, Barth syndrome and age-related macular degeneration.

Research applications

Frequently asked questions

Is SS-31 the same as Elamipretide?

Yes. SS-31 is the research name; Elamipretide is the clinical/development name used by Stealth BioTherapeutics. Same tetrapeptide sequence.

How does SS-31 differ from MOTS-C?

Both target mitochondria but differently. MOTS-C is a mitochondrial-encoded signaling peptide acting via AMPK. SS-31 is a synthetic peptide that physically binds cardiolipin on the inner mitochondrial membrane.

Has SS-31 been in human trials?

Yes. Phase II/III trials in primary mitochondrial myopathy, heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, Barth syndrome and dry AMD have been conducted by Stealth BioTherapeutics.
